In this weeks Tuesday tip we have some fun with CrossFit exercises that beginners get confused with. There are so many odd names, that it’s fun to imagine what new athletes think they might look like before a explanation. Today we look at the Inchworm, Good morning, and Barbell Thruster movements.
Inchworm: A great hamstring, chest and shoulder warm up. We usually put these into the group warmups as a duel purpose movement, for stretching and getting the body primed to move.
Thruster: This is a combination of a barbell front squat and push press. A great full body weighted movement. You can sub dumbbells or Kettlebells for a bar to add variance.
Good mornings: This can be done as accessory work post deadlifts or squat or as a movement on its on. Its great to load a hip hinge movement from multiple angles, and this is perfect for variance to your program. Focus on keeping the back straight, and hinge from the hip with semi straight shins. You should feel it through the hamstrings, butt, and back (posterior chain). You can load the front by holding a kettlebell, dumbbell, or plate as well.
Exercise is great, but when you’re having fun, you’ll do it for life!
