Judging a book by its cover. We all do this because it saves us alot of time when it comes to making decisions about alot of other people, and that’s a very useful tool for the indiviual, because an adult in this age already has so many time consuming things to do at any given time. But are our judgments true? Well to an extent the person we express on the outside is an expression of the person on the inside, but there are so many levels comprising each individual, that if you were to just look at the surface, the icing, we’d miss the whole cake all together. People are complicated and as simple as some people may seem, there is an infinite amount of depth comprising each individual, and the moment you take a bit of time to sit down and understand that person, you’ll laugh at how meaningless that surface was.

This video is a perfect example of this, and really if I was this young boxer, the same thing would happen to me, he’s no fool, he’s human. Let’s break down the fight.

“Film Study”

First thing we can note, he’s kind of suprised, he’s smiling, as if the old man shouldn’t be in the ring with him. Very rational and human response. To him, this kind of feels like a joke. The bell rings, and the fight starts, and the old man comes in ready and in game, while his opponent still is not taking him seriously. Old man tests his chin, also indicating it’s okay to hit him, instantly I can tell this guy knows exactly what he’s doing. Look at that slight slip feint he used methodically stepping forward, testing reaction, and as he steps closer, instantly slips the young boxers first strike. Beautiful reaction and technique from an old man. Notice how low the old mans arms are. His style is to pressure in close with head movement and a lowered guard, he wants you close. This alone shoud indicate he is a power puncher who uses a wider range of motion to generate that power to win trades in damage dealt. And ofcourse, that’s what he demonstrates. First punch hits shoulder but the rotation and loose kinetic chain push the young boxer to the side from the suprising force, and it creates a car crash effect when he steps forward and alternates pivot for the left. His style, push and distract you with a powerful right to the body as he slips into the pocket, which lowers your guard and puts you off balance, making you completely blind to his left as he altnerates his pivot to that side. The punch you do not see is the one that knocks you out. His opponent is dazed panicking, he did not expect this at all, the suprise and the concussion create an environment too stressfull for his mind to handle, and he just tries to escape to regain himself, the old man smells blood, and just aims to finish. Beautifully done.

Sun Tzu : Pretend inferiority and it will encourage his arrogance.

When you pull someone out of confidence and into arrogance, it makes them blind to what you can really do. Now this could happen to anyone really. No one can really blame this young man for underestimating such an opponent when the societal standard propagated is that senior citizens should typically be treated with more care as old age has made them weak, that is common sense, but sometimes as proven here, that judgment or misconception can be a grave mistake. Let this be a lesson to all of us, me included, to not judge a book for it’s cover, because even if it’s alot easier to do so, “the truth might come out and suprise us.”

Hope you guys enjoyed the video. Please don’t forget to like and subscribe if you did, it’s good karma, and until next time, peace.
